Onigiri Rice balls using canned Spam
Spam and rice go great together! Even in Japan, you can sometimes find onigiri-like rice balls made with Spam.
This time, we present Spam Onigiri, made with Spam and egg rolls. We also recommend mixing in furikake to change the seasoning.
Ingredients
- Spam
- Oil
- Soy Sauce
- Mirin
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Furikake (sprinkled on rice)
Method
STEP 1
Cut the Spam into thin slices and brown on both sides in a pan with oil.
STEP 2
Place the Spam on paper towels. In the same pan, add soy sauce, mirin and sugar, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and add the Spam.
STEP 3
Make a thick baked egg with chopped green onions. Here is how to make a thick fried egg.
STEP 4
Spread out a sheet of plastic wrap and place a sheet of nori on top. Place the egg, Spam, and rice sprinkled with furikake in that order, then roll the egg upside down in the nori.
STEP 5
Drizzle a little of the Spam broth over the rice to taste, and you are done!
