ochazuke

Ochazuke recipe that can be made in just 3 minutes.

Eat rice with tea.
Japan may be the only country that has such a food culture.
Ochazuke is an ancient Japanese way of eating rice, and in the past, people used to pour hot water over it.
I'll talk about it in detail in another article, but I'd like to introduce how to make ochazuke so that people overseas can enjoy the ochazuke we eat in Japan.
It's very easy to make, just pour tea over rice.
But that's not enough, so I'd like to introduce some recommended furikake as well.

First, make the Japanese tea.

It's Ochazuke, so it wouldn't start without Japanese tea.
Put a Japanese tea bag in the pot and pour in the tea.
By the way, as a side note, if you make the tea with boiling water, you will get a tea with a strong astringency. If you make tea with warm water, you will get a tea with less astringency.

Wait for about a minute.

If you wait a minute, the tea will ooze out; if you wait a minute, the tea will come out well. If you wait too long, it will become too thick and bitter.Check it by opening the lid, and when it is well done, it is OK.

Pour the tea over the rice.

Pour just enough to keep the rice from sinking into the tea. If the rice is covered by the tea, it will not look good because you will be sprinkling furikake on it later. Appearance is very important.

Sprinkle with furikake for ochazuke.

It is very tasteless as it is, so I put ochazuke furikake on it.
This is not ordinary furikake, but furikake for ochazuke.
Unlike regular furikake, ochazuke furikake contains dashi stock and freeze-dried green tea.
The rice with the tea will look and taste amazing.

Ochazuke is ready!

Yes, it's done! It took me about 3 minutes to make oatmeal.
This time I just sprinkled furikake on top, but many other things go well with ochazuke.
For example, I often put grilled salmon or pickled plums on top. In general, anything with a strong saltiness goes well with ochazuke.
There are many different flavors of furikake for ochazuke. I will add the products to the store on this site so that everyone can buy them.

I ate Ochazuke with the kids.

I often eat the dishes I make on this blog with my children. The kids loved the Ochazuke, and we ate a lot of it afterwards.
In the blog, I ate it with chopsticks, but it is easier to eat it with a spoon.
